Grassroots Grants Endowment Challenge

CCF have sole access to £2 million of Government money to support the London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Camden, Greenwich, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Westminster. Every £1 donated in endowment to support charities and community groups in these areas can be matched with another £1 from this pot…

 

…but time is running out. In March 2011, any money not claimed in match funding by our donors will go back to the Treasury.

What is 'Grassroots Grants'?

Grassroots Grants is a £130 million government funded programme to support the voluntary sector in building stronger, more active communities nationwide.

There are two parts to the programme:

 

Both are delivered by local funders like CCF who have excellent local knowledge and experience in making grants and managing endowment funds. CCF will distribute the allocated funding for 9 London boroughs. We are responsible for delivering over £3 million in small grants over 3 years, and can claim over £2 million of matched funding for endowed donations. Both Grassroots programmes run until March 2011.

 

 

What is the benefit of an endowed fund?

The original donation in an endowment fund is never touched. Instead it is invested and the interest it generates is awarded in grants year after year, providing a sustainable, long term income for communities

 

 

How does the ‘match funding’ work?

 

A Personal Charitable fund worth just under £50,000 will cost a higher rate tax payer £15,000 and can be paid in installments until March 2011.
