Help support older people in need as the cold draws in this winter

Part of a national appeal, being run by Community Foundations across the UK. We are inviting those who feel they can afford to go without their Winter Fuel Payment, to donate it to older people in greater need this winter. We also welcome donations from younger donors who do not yet qualify for this benefit!

In detail

Living in a warm, comfortable home with friends and family nearby is something that most of us take for granted. But for many, the reality of growing old is loneliness, isolation and anxiety. As winter approaches these problems become more acute. More than 25,000 people in the UK die from causes related to the cold each winter. Many more suffer from illness and depression, cut off from the outside world. With rising energy bills, it is estimated that well over 535,000 households in London are now in fuel poverty.

Your donation will go to help older Londoners who struggle to stay warm, safe and healthy at winter.

Small relief grants to older people in acute need, who struggle to keep warm in their homes this winter
Practical help for older people to break the cycle of fuel poverty, for example by better insulating their homes and getting the best deal on their bills (in partnership with leading fuel poverty charity NEA)
Support for the core work of selected community groups and local charities that simply make life better for isolated and unwell older people. Through schemes like lunch clubs and befriending visits, they build up meaningful relationships and are ideally placed to spot people in real need and act quickly to help them.

We will not take a penny of your donation for LCF's administrative costs with 100% of donations and Gift Aid going straight to the people and projects on the ground.
